MM - Mounted mint. Stamps which have all the apearance of brand new stamps, however they have at some point been mounted in a prevoius collection with stamp hinge. Therefore, the gum on the reverse of these stamps will have been affected in some way. There may even be part of a stamp hinge still attached to the reverse of these stamps.
Mint - As good as new. Mint items are ones which look as good as the day they were manufactured. If you are lucky enough to own an item from the 1800's which is mint, cherish it.
