DELL - GB:
"Dell established in the UK in 1987, initially to sell and manufacture desktop PCs into the UK market. Since this time, it has introduced a range of hardware, systems integration and third party software, preinstalled on equipment purchased directly from Dell, plus peripheral products. Dell complements its product offering with a complete range services.
Headed up by Josh Claman, Dell is the number one desktop PC and commercial notebook supplier in the UK, and first in the market across all product lines (source: IDC final data Q3 2005).
Its customer based includes large corporate and public sector customers (including Honeywell, Barclays and Royal Philips Electronics) in addition to medium and small UK businesses, and consumers.
Both its UK and EMEA headquarters (Europe, Middle East and Africa) are based out of Bracknell, Berkshire, employing over 1,000 staff.
Additionally, the UK market is supported by operations in Ireland, Scotland and India: Ireland is the location for Dell's UK home and small business division, and enterprise product support centre (for our server and storage solutions). Dell's European Manufacturing operation, Enterprise Expert Centre and Enterprise Command Centre, all of which service the UK market in addition to other markets, are also located here.
Scotland houses additional sales and support for Dell UK's medium and large business and public sector customers and is a Centre of Excellence for desktop support for business customers.
India provides sales and support to our home and small business customers.
Since its launch in the UK more than 18 years ago, Dell has introduced notebook computers (1991) and its first server product - the Power Edge range in 1996. Following the success of these product introductions into the UK and its growing dominance and acceptance as a top tier player in the market, Dell launched its first workstation computer, the Precision range. Dell then further expanded its enterprise offering with the launch of the PowerVault storage family in 1998. This was followed by a strategic partnership agreement between Dell and EMC, announced in 2001, which has proved critical to the success of Dell's enterprise strategy.
Most recently, Dell UK customers have benefited from its new line of printers, LCD TVs, network switches, PowerConnect, the Axim handheld computer and Projectors."
